Archiweek 2024

Bruxelles

Urban.brussels
2024

During Archiweek 2024 organized by Urban.brussels, Adn had the opportunity to present the renovation of Les Tanneurs theater.

Les Tanneurs theater is located in Brussels, in the Marolles, an historic part of the city centre. In addition to its cultural role, the theatre plays a social role in a mixed neighbourhood. The renovation of the foyer marks the end of a series of transformations within the venue.

The new foyer became the heart of the theater. Far from being seen as an entrance or waiting room, this enlarged and renovated space has been designed as a place to live, share and meet. People come here to discuss world affairs or to share their feelings about the show they have just seen. With seating for around a hundred, the foyer welcomes the Tanneurs audience and the artists throughout the day. The foyer is also largely open to the street, creating a real interaction between inside and outside.

The project highlights the traces of the site's history and creates a design that is full of contrasts. To make this a peaceful place to live, a deliberately limited range of materials and colours has been used. On the floor, two warm materials stand side by side: the existing renovated granito and a wooden floor. Some of the walls have been left bare, in a crude state of harmony with the large smooth surfaces of multiplex panels, bringing light and softness. The foyer is now equipped with a large curved piece of furniture housing the bar, ticket office and kitchen. The unity of the new multi-purpose spaces is achieved by a single black acoustic ceiling made of wood shavings.

La province de luxembourg est elle design ?

Saint-Hubert

2014

Is the biggest province of Belgium but also the least populated, receptive to the words design, concept, tendencies, eco-conception ? We often speak about tourism, the rural character or the green heritage of the province of Luxembourg but little regarding its creative potential. Interior designers, creators of furniture, architects or graphic designers, who are they and how do these professionals of design develop their activity in the Belgian region of Luxembourg ? What are the projects and the objects that impact our daily life and our environment ?

Along the three thematic routes : architecture, design and interior design, this exhibition offers to discover the ‘fashion’ side of the Belgian region of Luxembourg. A sometimes unexpected aspect and another side of the province which will prove that creativity is not the prerogative of great cities.

The name: A. WEEK. For its first edition, A.WEEK wants to put in place a clear basis of what has to be a week of contemporary Architecture in Brussels by a juxtaposition of “pièces à conviction”. ’ Une Semaine de l’Architecture’ is not only the gathering of its participants, but also the encounter between architecture and its audience. Far from a new ‘conversation between architects’ A.WEEK presents the backstage of Brussels architecture to its audience, in a factual way.
